4 weeks
Has it been 4 weeks, already? Wow, time flies when you're eating and sleeping and being adorable.
Looking more like Daddy all the time!
Even just today, I am starting to feel more "awake" to this new little being. We walked to the mailbox alone together today, Bean all "slung" up in a big cloth wrap. And I got out the great used jogging stroller to evaluate how soon we can use it. We'll start very slow, but it will be great to be out. The weather has been wonderful, and I will endeavor to appreciate it as more than just "great diaper drying weather". Laundry IS a big part of our days, but still...

Doing Enough
We are emerging from our cocoon just a bit, but I have to remind myself to take it easy. I know that nurturing this new little being is a "project" more worthy than any other, but the part of me that was used to go-go-going while pregnant and working and going to meetings and... is still here a bit. I feel like I should be "using" this maternity leave somehow more, learning bird calls in the yard, or something. Maybe I will, but it's also just time to relax and learn this new role of mom. Things are going well, so far.
One of the things we HAVE started doing is cloth diapers. I actually enjoy doing laundry, but am not supposed to lift full laundry baskets right now (darn incision; grrr). I overdid it the other day, but goshdarnit, the Bean has clean diapers. I think it will work fine; we just need to buy a few more to allow some mega-wash days instead of many smaller wash days. We have no dryer; that makes me a bit nervous for winter days to come. But so far, we've had so much sun, and it's amazing how much more sun we have access to when not working in town all week!
The sun has also been great for walks and for good spring progress; WF is gardening already, but I'm not quite into that yet. Perhaps some spring/garden posts soon!

Two Loves
Now I have TWO men in my life to love:
Napping. (Not sure why picture won't stay horizontal?)
WF is already teaching baby Bean about the world of chickens and fruit trees, as well. They've been out walking quite a bit.
Awwww....Just one gratuitous baby pic.
Most of the pictures I have so far are from this angle, right next to me. He's hard to put down!

Baby Bean's Blog Debut
He's here! He's home! We're doing well... just tired and working hard to keep this peaceful little bean-baby eating enough; he wants to cuddle and sleep.
The cats are doing OK so far; there was quite alot of sniffing, now lots of space being given. WF commented that Schroeder keeps watching him like he's holding a ticking time bomb.
We are truly blessed....

New Baby
(guest typer/poster... "WF", but GTR's words)
The baby bean has safely arrived! It was a long journey that began at home, then with a wonderful midwife and doula in a "birth house" in town, then hospital for "augmentation" and finally "surgical extraction" via incision. (the poetic wording of the consent forms)
44 hours after water break the baby bean arrived!
It wasn't the birth story we were expecting but its been a strong empowering experience none-the-less. Three almost birth stories in one! More (and photos) later.
WF's note: GTR-the-Mom is recovering well, and baby's doing well. We hope to be home soon.
