Rememberance
The week got away from me, but I really wanted to post some harmonica music last week. Music performed by my grandfather. Last week was his birthday; he passed away almost 6 years ago. I recorded his playing onto a CD 8 years ago. I just finally played it for Bean, and he smiled and waved his arms toward the radio. I so wish they could have met each other.
My limited online skills won't let me post those CD recordings here, but I've had this song in my head quite a bit lately; Springtime in the Rockies. He loved to belt out this tune, once he got going! Imagine this song sung faster, loudly, and with a slight German accent.
Once again I'll say I love you, when da birds sing all da day...
We miss you, Grandpa.

Eat and Grow
Bean update: Much momma-milk has been consumed, food is being accepted a bit more, and growth continues to be FAST! The somewhat late 9 month check-up today showed that he's staying consistent with the 95% percentile, all the way. The doctor joked about giving me an IV to maintain hydration after all this nursing (haha, doctor humor-?). But it does still astound me; I have been eating for two for a long time! Past "reserves" are leaving my hips and going into him, which is kind of nice, I'll admit.
A round of drinks (in sippy cups) for everyone! And maybe some mashed beans and carrot cubes. Mmm!
Pictures are a bit sparse lately as I can't find my "good" camera battery charger: ug. And work is ramping up even more, so we might be scarce on the blog. Hoping for a breather in later March, maybe.
This ought to be cute enough to hold you for a while...

Musical Bean
I have played the tin whistle (rather simplistically) for years. It seems that our musical Bean has some interest, as well!

Sacred Cedars
Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts after my last angsty posts. We're OK.
Today, in honor of the Bean having been with us for 9 whole months (!) already, we made a visit to The Cedars. The secret sacred swamp within an easy snowshoe from our place. We make at least an annual pilgrimage, noted here and here. It really does help me remember that we live in an amazing place, if I can forget the inconvenience of the commute, etc.
He enjoyed the trip, even the bushwhacking that led to a shirt (and diaper, somehow!) full of woody bits. I felt quite a bit more energetic than the last time I was there, 8 months pregnant or so.
It was good to share this special place with Bean, part of his real name namesake. May we all live long and strong like these trees!
