Ice Pics

We made it back to Superior today, just in boots this time. Still frozen solid, still amazing!

I've always loved the sunset colors to the east; pinks and blues, the subtle sunset alter-ego.

Why, YES, I do think WF walks on water!

The cracks were still frozen tight, but still felt some shifting and quite harmonic fwoompppppps. The whole suface seemed to hum for a minute after a shift.

On thin ice? No worries, the Lake will support us this year! Thanks, Superior...

Awesome photos. Especially the first. I can't believe there is no snow there.

We're going to try to make it to the ice caves in the next couple of days. Perhaps I'll have some good ice pics as well.

Wooh, that pic of your feet gives me the willies. My mother scared the bejezuz out of us to never ever walk on the ice on Lk Michigan. I think she may even have said "just kill me now" or some other guilt-inducing term to emphasize her point. So I have, stupidly, no fear of walking on a little lake or little pond, but the big lakes? Even if you can drive on them? No way.

Between you and Burdockboy I'm swimming in Minnesota winter memories. I tell people there are lakes where you can get pizza delivered to your ice house, by car, and they don't believe me.

Hi, all-

Yep, no snow at all! It's very wierd. They just cancelled the Beargrease Sled Dog race for the first time in 26 years. I used to volunteer and love that event. Will our climate no longer allow it?

And yes, el, great lakes ice is nothing to be trifled with, but we were careful. It felt very stable. I suppose we could have tried to order pizza; never done that myself!
