Big snow!

From the URGENT National Weather Service weather message today:

THIS STORM WILL LIKELY PARALYZE TRAVEL DUE TO HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...AS WELL AS BLIZZARD CONDITIONS NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. A STORM OF THIS MAGNITUDE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE VERY DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE DRIVING CONDITIONS.

Eeeep! They’re not kidding around! (But our big boss reminded us today that we don’t shut down the office for weather. Sigh... we’ll see what my driveway has to say about that!)

They've already started cancelling stuff here. The truck delivery for the co-op has cancelled his Friday delivery.

I wonder if this will be one of those all-hype storms and we'll end up with about 2 inches.

No school today, and I took the day off rather than risk the thirty mile commute. For a while this morning it was almost a complete whiteout. I'm drinking wine and baking cookies. :)

Just now we have closed things down here as well! Earlier this morning, I told my students not to take the chance to travel to school (some travel an hour or so). It is best to miss a class than wind up in a ditch or injured.
