So, how did I (Hazel eyes) and WF (brown-gold eyes) produce a blue-eyed child? We're not entirely sure if his eyes will stay this color, but it's possible- they are quite blue/grey in the right light. We're remembering relatives (my grandfather, WF's aunt) who had blue eyes. The power of a lurking recessive gene!
We're also seeing what 3 months can do... behold the handy quilt-square size comparison! (I can't figure out how to make it one big image, so I'll repost from 3 months ago...)

I love the top photo, he really is beautiful. The quilt is a great way to compare baby length and I notice the nappy fastening positions have changed a lot too! He looks a very healthy little boy.
Babies are beautiful and yours is a very nice specimin indeed...
My husband has hazel eyes, and mine are brown. My dad had blue eyes, though. Both of my kids have blue eyes, but my SEVEN YEAR old's have started to change to brown. Apparently it is rare, but possible, to change eye color throughout your childhood. Wierd!
Thanks, Willow and Jen! He is beautiful, isn't he? I'm still figuring out what to say when people tell me that in town; um, yes, he is? Thanks? Not sure if it's something I should take credit for, but you know... genetics, I guess! ha!
Regarding eye color, it's hard to say just yet what might happen. There was a time when I thought perhaps that Nathan's eyes would remain blue, like mine. But nay, they are a beautiful, rich brown like Greg's. However, my father had very dark brown eyes and my mother has very green eyes and mine are very much blue. Time will tell. And by the way, I must agree with the others. The bean is a gorgeous baby!
