Sad World
Ack, I’m still here, really. Just crazy-busy-swamped, mostly with work and some fretting about the cats. The world, of course, is crazy too. News from Virginia is very very sad, but it frustrates me how the media pounces upon “dramatic” death and ignores the “regular” variety like the all-too-frequent deaths in Iraq. Why is the flag at half-staff for those students and not for the Iraqi women and children who died in the markets this week? Sigh...

I second that opinion.
The other thing that's been bugging me is the "death count" at VT being reported as 32. 33 people died, one by his own hand, and I believe that for his family's sake, his death should also be recognized.
I totally agree. Why is it that when there is a violent mass death flags are flown at half staff, but when a random violent death occurs, as happens every day, the victims don't get any coverage? And our government is killing civilians in Iraq every day...And I do feel for the VT gunman and his family. Something must have gone terribly wrong there.
